Fitness Tuesday - Week 6!

Last week has been pretty good for me. With the vision of the last week of my holiday with my family and friends in the Czech Republic, I managed to go running every day until Friday (I also managed to skip and do the sit ups and push ups a few times), when we flew back to the UK. The weather was great and Isabelle was looked after, so why not? I knew when I get back, it would be much more difficult to go as I would have no childcare. This morning I called the local leisure centre and I was so happy when they told me the creche was open, so I went running. It's a beautiful day and I would have loved running outside, but at least I managed to go at all.

Would you like to sponsor me?

And how did you do last week? What exercises have you done in the last week?

As every week I suggest doing the following exercises every day until next Tuesday. It will not take you long, you don't have to do them all at once. If you feel comfortable doing more, do it, if you feel you might need to do less, don't worry, do less this week and do more the week after. I am not a fitness instructor, I am here to encourage you to do some exercises to get fitter and hope you will be there for me too.

I suggest doing the following for the next week:
  • 42 sit ups (towards both knees)
  • 42 sit ups (touching your left knee)
  • 42 sit ups (touching your right knee)
  • 15 push ups
  • skipping for 60 seconds (roughly 1 turn per second)

So what do you think? If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, please let me know.

Don't forget to come back next Tuesday afternoon and add a link to your comment on how it went and please visit as many of the others' posts as you can. We are here to help each other. Can't wait to see all your comments ;)

The importance of having your family around!

A month ago we started our holiday in the Czech Republic. We love it here, as my family and friends are here. Isabelle loves having all her family around, spending a lot of time with her cousins and others. When we are in London, we don't have any family around, except my husband's sister, whom we don't see very much and his grandparents have moved to Northern Ireland.

Before our holiday I thought it would be maybe too long, but I think it will never be too long. Especially for Isabelle. She had to say goodbye to her cousins, uncle and aunt yesterday and she was so upset, crying and didn't want them to go. What can I say? She was even saying she didn't want to go back to London. The only thing that helped was telling her her daddy was waiting for us in London and that she would be starting pre school in September.

She is OK now, but I'm sure there will be a big drama at the airport tomorrow. My mum always cries a lot and we all get upset. It's very important to have your family around and if they live close to you, you are very lucky. I know it's not that far (at least it's much closer then when we lived in Sydney) and we come and see them quite often, but it's not the same.

The Gallery - A Photo I'm Proud Of!

I am very proud of this photo. It includes me, Isabelle and my mum. When going through photos lately, I have realised I don't have any pictures of all three of us together and have decided to have a few taken when visiting my family in the Czech Republic. My mum hates having pictures taken, but as I insisted she even managed a little smile. Isabelle loves having her pictures taken, but I have to admit that lately she has started pulling some very funny faces when being photographed.

Fitness Tuesday - Week 5!

Would you believe that it has already been 5 weeks since we have started our Fitness Tuesday? Some weeks are better than others, but the most important is we are doing it together. Most of the time I get your responses via Twitter (@Kahanka), which is great, but it would be great if you could also comment here, so we all can learn and help each other. That was the main reason for starting it.

Anyway, I have to admit I was so busy visiting my friends in Ostrava and Prague last week, I didn't manage to do any exercises until this Monday morning, when I went for my usual 5km jog. It was very hot and humid, and this was the first time I thought I wouldn't manage to run the whole 5km. Anyway, I did it and was very proud of myself for doing so.

I have just a few days of my holidays left, and I know it will be much more difficult to do all my planned exercises once I get back to London. So please help me with that and come back and tell me how you are doing.

Would you like to sponsor me?

And how did you do last week? What exercises have you done in the last week?

As every week I suggest doing the following exercises every day until next Tuesday. It will not take you long, you don't have to do them all at once. • 40 sit ups (towards both knees)

  • 40 sit ups (touching your right knee)

  • skipping for 55 seconds (roughly 1 turn per second)

This is what I miss in London!

It's been a month since I have been enjoying the company of my family and friends in the Czech Republic. Every summer we spend a few weeks here, but this year I have decided to spend a whole month here, as one of my very good friends was getting married at the end of August and I thought Isabelle would really enjoy spending more time with her nan, grandad, cousins, uncle, aunt and others.

In summer we always stay at my parents' weekend house. This year we were not very lucky with the weather, but the last few days have been amazing, very hot and sunny, that kind of summer I remember as a little girl. When the weather is great we have family BBQs. They are different to BBQs I know from Sydney or London. We have open fire BBQs. My father is great at roasting chickens above open fire, it takes 2-3 hours, but it's worth waiting for. I have never tasted any meat done in a better way than this. I also love roasting sausages in open fire, they smell divine and the taste is just irresistible. Not being able to have an open fire BBQs in our garden is one of the things I really miss in London.

Is your mouth watering yet?

The Memory - The Gallery!

The gallery theme for this week is "the memory". Originally I wanted to post a picture my husband took when Isabelle was just a few days old, a picture of her hand on mine. I love that picture, but as I am currently on holidays in the Czech Republic, spending a lot off time with my family and friends, I had to choose from pictures that are saved on my laptop. The above picture was taken when Isabelle was just over a year old.... She will be starting pre school this September. When I look at her baby pictures, I feel very proud but also a bit sad at the same time as I realise how quickly she grows. I wish I could stop the time, to enjoy her toddler years for a bit longer!

Fitness Tuesday - Week 4!

I am very proud to say I managed to go running almost every day last week. The weather wasn't great, but I seemed to always find an hour when the rain stopped. I love running in the forrest that is not far from my parents' weekend house, much nicer than running in town or at the gym. I also think it's much healthier to run on pathways in the forrest, it's much softer for your knees and other joints. Also the terrain is very different to running in a city, jogging up and down the hill is much tougher. I am very lucky and will be enjoying this for a few more weeks, but then I will have to get back to running in London.

CSN stores review - coming soon!

I have recently been approached by CSN stores to write a review of a product from their range. CSN Stores has amazing online stores where you can find everything from cookware to lights to furniture! They also have fabulous 70% off summer sale on, go and check out all the bargains before they are all gone.

Don't forget to come back to find out what I think about their products!

Františkovy Lázně - A Famous Czech Spa Town!

From my past few posts you know I am on holiday in the Czech Republic. My parents live in Sokolov, in the Western part of the CR, which is known for brown coal mining. There are also a few very famous spa towns not far from there (Karlovy Vary, Marianske Lazne, Frantiskovy Lazne and many others). My parents' weekend house is just a few minutes away from Frantiskovy Lazne, so we very often go there. The salutary effects of the springs there were known from the 15th century on and are still very popular not only with Czech people but also with people from all over the world. There are also very beautiful parks, many cafes and a mini train, which takes you to a close by camping site Jadran.

On one of the pictures I am touching the statue of little Frantisek (his very private part). Why? Many women believe they will become pregnant within a year after touching his statue!

Have you ever been mushroom picking?

Mushroom picking is very popular in the Czech Republic and I have to admit I really miss it. I still remember going with my parents and my brother when I was a little girl and now seeing Isabelle going with them is just a great pleasure!

It takes some time to learn which wild mushrooms are edible, but it's not impossible. There are main 5-8 wild mushrooms we pick, you can see some of them on the photos. There are so many different dishes you can cook from these. One of the most famous is "Smazenice", scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and my favourite wild mushrooms schnitzels. The taste of the wild mushrooms is completely different to the mushrooms you know from supermarkets, one hundred times better and they cost you nothing!

I love this activity also for the fact you have to look for the mushrooms, they hide under leaves, in the grass and we always try to find the biggest and the nicest looking mushrooms. Just imagine your whole family together, in a forest, fresh air, birds singing....what else to wish for?

Graco Nautilus Gallery!

As there is no Gallery this week, I miss it so much that I have decided to do my private Gallery of the pictures we took when testing and reviewing our new Graco Nautius car seat. Isabelle had so much fun. Don't forget to check my other posts I bet you would love to test one of these and Testing Graco Nautilus Part 2 and the videos on YouTube!
