Our Weekend in Belfast!

Some of you might know, my husband's grandparents moved to Belfast a few years ago. Nobody can still understand why, but that means we also have to fly to see them. When I mentioned on twitter I was flying again...a few people called me " a jet setter". I can tell you I wasn't really looking forward to that trip, as I just wanted to stay at home, but as we will not see them at Christmas, we had to go. We love them and Isabelle is always very excited, but as they are very old, it's not easy at all.

We always stay at their place, and it used to be fine when Isabelle was a baby and used to sleep in a travel cot. We just left her sleeping in the living room, and me and daddy slept in the guest room. As Isabelle is obviously too big and old she has started sleeping in her Dora inflatable bed, on the floor next to our double bed (it's a very small room, by the way). In summer, it's fine, but in winter its very cold there. They don't have the heating on during the day in bedrooms, as many old people don't , so our room is very cold even when we leave the heating on, as by the time it worms up, we are off to London again! I told daddy to tell them to keep the heating on, but he just wouldn't do it. So I had to encourage myself and I asked them. It didn't hurt and granddad put it on straight away. Unfortunately this was after one night sleeping in a very cold bedroom. Poor Isabelle has a cold now, me too...

We have decided that from next time we will stay at the local B&B or in a hotel room, that's the plan, but I have no idea how to tell them, and if my husband is really going to tell them. We cannot really tell them why, can we?

CSN stores reviewed again!

If you are my regular blog reader, you know I have mentioned the CSN Stores here a few times before. The last time I decided to give away the £25 gift certificate that was offered to me to one lucky  All Baby Advice reader ( by the way you can still enter the competition, just check the competitions tab in the top menu).

With the Christmas approaching, many people shop online to avoid overcrowded shopping centres and streets. CSN stores is definitely the place to shop online! You can find here everything from very stylish chest of drawers to fantastic cookware! I have seen a great children's baking set, which I am going to get for Isabelle as she loves cooking and baking. They offer some great discounts too, don't forget to check them out and get clicking!

A to Z Picture Book by Gyo Fujikawa - Review!

When reviewing books, I have been trying to choose books that could help Isabelle with learning numbers and letters. The A to Z Picture Book by Gyo Fujikawa is definitely a book your child will appreciate when learning letters. Each letter is presented first through black and white drawings on one double page, which are then followed by beautiful colour paintings on the following 2 pages.

When reading this book, not only we laugh when looking at some of the illustrations, but Isabelle has also learnt many new words and expressions. As Isabelle learns  a new letter every week at school, we have been looking at letters she has done so far. Our favourite has to be the first letter "A", featuring an alligator, an armadillo, but also an argument, anger or an agreement! The last three words are really nicely explained just observing the pictures. There is also a sentence about eating an apple before going to bed, which can help when persuading your child to eat fruit!

"Eat an apple before going to bed- make the doctor beg for bread."
( very similar to the Czech saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away!")

Guest post - Magic 105.4 Cash for Kids' Christmas Appeal!

Christmas is a special time, a time for families, for sharing and giving but for some children Christmas is just another day.

This Christmas Magic 105.4's charity Cash for Kids has teamed up with leading Children’s charity Action for Children to raise money for neglected and underprivileged children in London. Action for Children is committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people in the UK break through injustice, deprivation and inequality, so they can achieve their full potential.

What Is Child Neglect?
A neglected child may go hungry, cold and dirty. They may be denied the love and care that every child deserves. As a result, they may suffer poor mental and physical health and low self esteem. They are likely to become isolated and angry. They may have problems trusting others and find it hard to form positive relationships in the future. They will probably carry these problems into adulthood and all too often, pass them on to their own children.

THESE CHILDREN MAY NOT EVEN RECEIVE A HOT MEAL ON CHRISTMAS DAY LET ALONE PRESENTS!

    Photobox Canvas Prints Review!

    Cybermummy prize

A few weeks ago I was approached by Photobox to review their canvas prints. The first time I came across this company was when I won the third prize in StickyFingers Cybermummy Gallery competition ( the first ever UK mummy blogging conference in July 2010). I was very happy and proud our picture with Isabelle received such a great prize. When choosing a picture for this competition I knew exactly where it would go and was just hoping we would win. And we did!

This time I went for another great picture of Isabelle, and was thinking of giving it to my parents for Christmas, but when the canvas arrived and I looked at it, I just fell in love with it... so I am still not decided if we keep it or give it as a Christmas present. What do you think?

Anyway, the process of uploading the high resolution picture on their website is pretty easy, there are many sizes you can choose from and if this is the first time you are ordering from them, you will get free 40 prints for joining, isn't it great? A few days after ordering the canvas arrived, nicely wrapped in bubble wrap so it wouldn't get damaged, looked great and was of a very good quality. Photobox offer many other great product, beautiful photobooks including their best seller Baby First Year Book, posters and mugs to keep the kids and the family smiling.

Why don't you check out the Photobox website and order some great Christmas presents for family and friends?

Black & White - The Gallery!

I love this picture which I took with my new camera at our nan's 90th birthday in June. I am giving you our "black & white" Isabelle in a "black & white" photo! And here is how we answered her question when she asked if she was black or white - Black or White?

    Fitness Tuesday - Week 18!

Some of you might have realised that I haven't done our Fitness Tuesday for a few weeks, but it's not that I would be lazy or giving up! One of the reasons was my 2 week's holiday and then I wasn't feeling well. Last week I went for a run after not running for two weeks, but I was surprised I had no problems with my usual 5 km run, no aching and I wasn't out of breath. I also went to my favourite pedal X class (spinning class) last Wednesday morning, after not going for a few months as I was mostly going running, and that was a challenge! It proved me again, it is the most demanding exercise I have ever done, and thanks to my running I was able to finish the class, but there were a few moments I just wanted to leave. I did finish the class and then felt very proud of myself.

Unfortunately I am still experiencing really bad back ache after running, so after talking to a few friends I might have to go and see some specialist. One of them suggested my running technique might be the problem, so to check out with an instructor at the gym. Anyway, I have tried to stick to do the sit ups and push ups, haven't done skipping for a while...again, have to go back to it.

As every week I suggest doing the following exercises every day until next Tuesday. It will not take you long, you don't have to do them all at once. If you feel comfortable doing more, do it, if you feel you might need to do less, don't worry, do less this week and do more the week after. I am not a fitness instructor, I am here to encourage you to do some exercises to get fitter and hope you will be there for me too.

I suggest doing the following for the next week:
    • 55 sit ups (towards both knees)
    • 55 sit ups (touching your left knee)
    • 55 sit ups (touching your right knee)
    • 18 push ups
    • skipping for 80 seconds (roughly 1 turn per second)

How did you do last week and how do you feel about it? What exercises have you done?

Britax Evolva 1-2-3 PLUS Car Seat Reviewed!

After being contacted by the PR of the well- known Britax company, I was offered to review one of their car seats. I wasn't choosing the product. They were very professional and asked a few important questions before sending us a car seat from their range. After providing Isabelle's age, weight, and the make & model of our car, we were advised that the award winning Britax Evolva 1-2-3 Plus would be arriving soon.

Before unpacking and putting the car seat in our car, we watched this video, which gave us an idea what to expect from this ergonomically designed car seat.

And what did we think of it? I liked the fact the car seat came assembled exactly as you can put it in your car, you don't have to do anything. The instruction booklet was already in its place, at the back of the car seat, so it will always be there when we need it. The next thing I realised was, it was quite light  (8.1kg) and we also liked the colour choice we got for Isabelle, the red and black combination.

As Isabelle is almost 17kg now, we don't use the 5 point harness anymore, so we didn't use the provided padded harness, but let me tell you about one feature which I have never seen before and I would have definitely appreciated before, when using 5 point harness car seats! There are harness retainers, which keep the harness in place when you take your baby/child out of the car seat. Our previous car seats didn't have this feature and to be honest, none of my friends have heard of them. I believe many parents would agree, all car seats should have them.

Another great feature is the pull out drink holder and snack tray, which was especially admired by Isabelle. I would also like to mention the car seat cover is machine washable and easily removable without the need to dismantle the harness, and you can also purchase another cover from the official website. We have had it for almost 2 weeks now, and I haven't found one thing I didn't like about it.

    Product features:
    • child age:  9 months - 12 years
    • child weight: 9 - 36 kg
    • Seat grows with the child Initially used with an integral harness, the seat later converts to a highback booster seat
    • Click & Safe™ audible harness system is designed to aid you when securing your child in the seat
    • 5-point safety harness with one pull adjustment
    • Side Impact Protection with deep, softly padded side wings
    • Performance chest pads
    • Seat shape correctly positions lap belt when used as a highback booster seat
    • Upright or recline position
    • Pull out drink holder and snack tray
    • Harness retainers
    • Height adjustable headrest and harness single handed adjustment
    • Seat belt guide correctly positions diagonal belt when used as a highback booster seat
    • Quick-remove and replacement cover without interfering with the harness
    • Softly padded and washable cover
    • 3-point seat belt installation
    • Adjustable side wings

BRITAX have also recently launched a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of side-impact protection in cars for all children with optimised side-impact protection in infant carriers and also with high-back booster for older children. To raise awareness of this issue they’ve launched an interactive and educational quiz on their Facebook page

We couldn't wait to get this album for a review, both me and Isabelle. When it finally arrived I put it on and the show started! My Buggy Buddy Hippychick Lock and Clip Review!

    My Buggy Buddy Lock

Last week I got this very interesting e-mail from one of my PR contacts about significant increase in buggy theft and she has also mentioned she had the answer to this problem, a My Buggy Buddy Lock and Clip by Hippychick! I have never thought of locking my pushchair, but actually I think it's a very clever idea which can save you a lot of money and stress!

According to a new survey by Halifax Home Insurance, "theft of buggies has doubled in the past year after designer pushchairs become more in demand. Of the 2000 parents polled 5% said their buggy had been stolen in the last 12 months, meaning as many as 315,000 buggies could have been stolen in the last year alone. The theft of buggies costing more than £500 has increased by 40%. Popular places for buggies to be stolen were outside the home, in car parks and in cafes and restaurants."

And what did we think of it? Well, what can I say. Maybe, why have I not thought of that? It's so simple, we lock our bikes, so why not to lock our pushchairs! The lock works on a number combination principle, so you just need to set it and then remember the 3 number combination to open it. Pretty easy, and you can buy it for £8.49 from Hippychick. Not only you can secure the buggy onto something, but also you can secure something to your buggy ( a handbag )! The clip is also very useful when you need to carry some bags and push the buggy at the same time. Just clip it onto your buggy add your bags and close it. Easy as that and again, a very effective solution which you will appreciate on a daily basis. You can buy it for £5.99 from Hippychick. Both of these could be great Christmas presents that everyone will surely appreciate!

      Isabelle's First Swimming Certificate!

Yesterday was a very important day in my Isabelle's life. We went to her swimming lesson, which she attends with her best friend, and after the lesson I was told by the teacher that Isabelle was ready to move a level up., the only one from the whole class! I was so proud. The funny thing was, when we were watching both girls swimming I just mentioned to my friend that I was wondering when they would be ready for the next level...What a coincidence!

Anyway, we went to the reception and were given her first ever certificate and a badge. She looked so happy. The only problem was that her friend is staying in the class and was sad, but we assured her that she was the next to be moved up. They will be in the same pool, so hopefully next week when they are not together they will both be fine.

I am soooooooo proud of her!

The first day of our holiday in Barbados!

After more than a week being back from our fantastic holiday in Barbados, I finally have a bit of time to tell you more about it. Some of you have read about the start of our holiday, which wasn't fantastic, but that's all behind us and now I would love to tell you more about our great holiday!

After being picked up at the airport, we were taken by a taxi to our hotel. We were exhausted, hungry and the only thing we wanted was just to check in , have a shower and something to eat. After about 5 minutes we were taken to our one bedroom ocean view suite. When we entered I loved the place straight away. Looked very clean, modern and so much space in the wardrobes! We even had 2 bathrooms! Anyway here are a few pics form there:

We left the suitcases and went to have some food as we were starving. After a few club sandwiches we went for  a walk by the sea. It was beautiful, but as it was just one day after the storm, the beaches were not that clean, there were palm trees, dead fish and sea weed. After our walk we decided to have our first cocktails, I had my favourite lemon margarita and daddy had a pina colada. I can tell you know that the amount of cocktails we consumed on this holiday would probably fill up the whole bath! Anyway, the place is lovely, the staff were really helpful and I would recommend it to anyone, even families with kids. We didn't test the pools, as we loved the sea, but there were a few kids who enjoyed playing there. There is also a cave bar by one of the pools, to which you can swim and have your drink over there!

And how did I come across this place? I did a lot of research, and finished up on "tripadvisor". It was highly rated there, but I needed someone real to confirm it was really as good as it said on the website. Thanks to twitter I had the answer. One of my mummy twittering friends was there and recommended it, so I booked it. To find out more about our holidays in Barbados don't forget to come back!

The Original BabyDam Tested and Reviewed!

I love when I get some very clever products for a review. And the new BabyDam is definitely one of these. Before having Isabelle ( more than 3.5 years ago...) I also bought one of the little baths that you put in your bath and then you have to keep it in there as there is nowhere else to put it. It was quite annoying as every time we wanted to have a bath or a shower, we had to take it out and put it in Isabelle's bedroom and then remember to bring it back in the bathroom (which my dear husband never did).

This is a solution. Originally when I saw it, I wasn't sure if it would really work, but it does. It is great as you can easily have it just behind your bathroom door or store it somewhere underneath, as it is flat. When we tested it I thought Isabelle would be too big for it, but she loved the idea of her little pond and having her toys on the side. As she is not a baby or a toddler anymore, we used the plug, so that she could have a deeper bath. To get you an idea how it works, watch this video, which clearly shows how to use it. It comes in blue, and you can buy it for £27.50 (including postage!) from the official website http://www.babydam.com/

      My tip:
As it is quite light and flat, don't forget to pack it with you when going on holidays!

Velvet Revolution 17November 1989 - We said goodbye to the communist regime!

Today is very important for the Czech history. 21 years ago, just a few months after I started Grammar school, Czech people decided they had enough of the ridiculous communist regime and it was the beginning of so called "Velvet revolution" ( piecefull revolution). I remember watching telly that evening and my father telling me, "watch carefully as this is a very important day for us and one day your children will be learning about it at school!". Well, I am not sure if Isabelle will be learning about this in a school here in the UK, but I will make sure she knows all about it.

I was 14 and what did it mean to me? Mostly I was happy I was allowed to study any foreign languages, my passion, and travel around the whole world. I know it was very difficult for older people as they were used to certain life guarantees like no doctor fees, no school fees, early retiring age, and few other, but most young people were happy for the change. Also the freedom of speech was finally here and people didn't have to be scared that KGB would knock on their door!

Here I am 23 years later, living in London, being married to an English guy. I travelled a lot, studied and lived in Sydney for 5 years. Would that be possible before November 17 1989? No! I am very grateful for this and will never forget this very important event in my life.

Man Gave Names to All the Animals by Bob Dylan

"Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago..."

When this book arrived for a review, I couldn't believe how beautiful pictures were accompanying the great words of Bob Dylan. They are just amazing. Every page is covered with brightly coloured animals from all  over the world. At the end of the book, there are written names of all of them, which is great as you could try to match the animals with the names, a great activity for your children.Would you guess how many there are? More than 170!

This book, Man Gave Names to All the Animals, includes a CD with the original Bob Dylan recording, which was mostly admired by me than Isabelle, as she is more into Zingzillas and CBeebies songs... It's a beautiful song and you can find all the words in the book, which will be great once Isabelle will be able to read. She can then listen to the song, read the words and admire the fantastic pictures by Jim Arnosky at the same time.

I think that one word sums up this book very well, a masterpiece!

Before and After - The Gallery!

I would love to share my pictures of a few years ago ( more than 10 years) and now, you would really have a good laugh. Unfortunately, all my pictures are at my parents' place in the Czech Republic, so I will have to remember next time I see them to bring some over here and share them with you. I am sure you would not recognise me.

Orchard Toys - One, Two, Tree Puzzle Review and Giveaway!

Last Saturday, just before we took my mum to the airport, she spent a while helping Isabelle with putting this great floor Orchard Toys One, Two, Tree jigsaw puzzle together. From some of my previous posts you would know that Isabelle is currently learning letters and numbers, so I thought this would be brilliant to help her learn the numbers up to ten while playing.

There is also a full size poster included, which helped her see what it will look like once she puts all the pieces together. She liked the bright colours and has not only been practising numbers but also names of some animals, which you can count and the number of them is placed next to them. The puzzles are  well-made, very easy to grab and put together even with her little hands. She loved doing this. She managed to do one half of the puzzle first and a few hours later she wanted to finish the whole puzzle, which she did without any problems. Check out all the fabulous Orchard Toys board games and puzzles, could be great Christmas gifts!

      • suitable 3-6 years
      • size: 29 x 86 cm (11 x 33 ins)
      • includes 30 puzzle pieces, instructions and a poster

        The GO!GO!GO! Show

We have been very lucky and got tickets to see this fantastic show. When we were at the Baby Show at the Earl's Court not long ago, we got some leaflets and Isabelle was very excited as she thought she would see it over there ... Then I promised her she would see it sometimes, especially as our mummy blogging friend beingamummy has also recommended it.

THE GO!GO!GO! SHOW is a good old-fashioned caper! It all kicks off when the gang awakes one morning to discover that their socks are missing yet again and it soon becomes apparent that there’s something strange going on! They discover that the culprit is a cheeky little creature called the Fluffalope who, it seems, likes nothing more than to munch his way through a tasty pile of socks! And so begins a quest to catch the Fluffalope, return him to his family home and most importantly – retrieve their socks! En route, the gang visit Holiday Bay and spend time in the Land Of Lost Property, where they are waylaid by the bumbling Mr Baffled.

We will be going just before Christmas and I will keep you informed how it went and what we thought of it. To check out the dates and to buy your tickets go to the official website http://www.gogogo.tv/

Richard Scarry - Best Counting Book Ever review!

I haven't reviewed many books so far, but I have to admit, that I am starting to really like doing so. Especially as I can choose books that are suitable for Isabelle and mostly choose books that can somehow help her with learning numbers and letters, as that is what she does at school now.

I chose this book, the Best Counting Book Ever, by Richard Scarry, as we know his books, we love the illustrations and the way he writes. I find it very easy to read and understand. Isabelle has started pre-school this year and numbers are her favourite. She loves writing them, recognising them and I have also started a bit of counting with her. This book is just perfect for counting. Every page deals with a number in a funny, interesting way that encourages children to count everything they see. As Isabelle is very young and has only started learning numbers and counting, it will take her a while before she can count up to one hundred  (which children should be able to do at the end of reading this book) but we will keep on practising and am sure she will be able to do it one day.

I am very happy to be reviewing this book just before Christmas, as I believe this could be one of the books that your child should have under the Christmas tree.
        Title: Best Counting Book Ever

        ISBN: 9781402772177
        Price: £9.99

Sulky Isabelle - The new side of her!

I have never had many behavioural problems with Isabelle, but as she is getting older, of course she is changing as well. I was used to her being a very good girl, always did as told... Not any more. I cannot say it happens every day, but it does happen more and more often.

This morning when I was picking her up from pre-school, she dropped one of her mittens and I told her to go back to get it. She was very excited about seeing me and she just turned around and rushed to get it, by pushing past one of  her classmates. I told her to say excuse me and not just to push past anyone, and that was the start of the new Isabelle "sulky Isabelle". She picked up her mitten and was looking very grumpy. She didn't want to kiss me, hold my hand.....so I was asking her what the matter was and she just wouldn't answer. We left the school and on the way to my car, the same girl (which by the way I really like and talk to her mum a lot) ran to us and wanted to hold Isabelle's hand...which my darling daughter didn't want to so she just put her hand in a pocket. I was embarrassed and said sorry to the little girl and her mum. The whole journey in the car Isabelle didn't speak a word and was not responding to my questions. As I am not used to this, I really had to control myself not to start shouting and telling her off. When we got home, daddy was greeting her and wanted a kiss, but she was just horrible to him. I explained what happened and then we were trying to get her to say what she did was wrong...but she just wouldn't do it. We left her sitting on the stairs. My husband mentioned she could stay sitting on the naughty step as long as she wanted to... Just to point out, I don't use the naughty step technique, but they used it at her previous nursery. She got very upset and ran upstairs crying.

Anyway, after about half an hour of both of us not talking to her, she came to us and said "sorry". We were talking to her for a while and explaining to her what she did wasn't nice and if somebody did the same to her that she wouldn't like that too. Every time I ask her why she doesn't play with the girl at school, she says that her two best friends don't like her, so they don't want to play with her and that's why she doesn't play with that girl as well. I told her she should be friends with everybody, not just the two girls, but I am not sure she will. We agreed with my husband that maybe I should invite the girl and her mum one afternoon so the girls could play together.

This was the first time I saw Isabelle not being nice to someone and I don't like it at all. How do you deal with sulky children and what would you do in this case?

Neurogames Literacy & Numeracy CD review and giveaway!

With Isabelle starting pre-school in September, I thought that testing and reviewing these games would be just perfect. I had no idea what to expect. Last week when it was raining in the afternoon I thought it would be the perfect time to start testing these.

When Isabelle was attending her previous private nursery, she learnt how to write her name, but after a few months of summer holidays and not practising, she forgot and wasn't really interested in learning it again. This September she started new pre-school (part of the big school which she will hopefully get in next September as well) and since then she has showed her interest in writing  again and we practise almost every day. I don't want to push her, it's always when she decided she wants to do some writing. We also practise numbers. So when asked to review this PC&Mac application, I agreed and now I can tell you, it was a great decision.

Isabelle loves playing games on computer, well, we don't let her very often, but as they do a lot of that as school as well, I thought that playing and learning numbers and letters would just be the best for her. We started with the "Tomato Tumble". First of all I have to say the instructions are very clear and you don't need to explain much to your child. The problem might be when they decide they don't want to listen and just do it....( like Isabelle did, but then I explained to her, if she doesn't listen she will not know what to do, and she started listening to the instructions). I was amazed how good she was, as we never did anything like that with her. Not long ago we bought her a special little mouse and she was happily clicking on the correct answers. She loved this game. Then we tried the "Nutty numbers", but as she cannot add numbers yet, she wasn't able to do that. Once she starts adding numbers, I am sure , she will like this game as well. The last game we tried was the "Letter Lillies", which was again a very appropriate for her age and knowledge. She has learnt quite a few letters since September, so she was able to recognise the letters and the sounds, as that's the way they are taught at school. She got a bit frustrated she wasn't able to do all the letters, as she doesn't know them all yet, but again after my short explanation she agreed she did well and I am sure she will know all the letters soon and will be playing this game without any problems. The last game " Word patch" is definitely not suitable for her yet, but once she masters all the letters, we will check it out as well.
You can check out the demo versions of the "Nutty Numbers" and "Water Lillies" on the Neurogames official website, which is packed with very useful information about how to help your child learning numbers an letters using theses games and where to buy.

Barbados holiday - me water skiing for the first time!

I have always wanted to try water skiing and I thought that being a very good downhill skier would help...I was wrong. Quite a few people were warning me, it was completely different and not as easy as it looked As water sports were part of our holiday package, I thought I would have a few days to master it, but at the back of my mind I really wanted to do it on the first go...

Unfortunately even after a few tips given by the instructor, I wasn't able to be above the water level for more than a few seconds the first day...I tried it three times, at the end it was just too much. I was really disappointed and aching a lot, but I didn't give up. The next day I tried it again. There was a different instructor an he took a little while explaining what to do. And then...I just did it. I managed to do it on the first go the next day. If you look at the clip properly you could see my face laughing. I was so pleased. The next day my arms were aching so much I just rested, but the day after I went again and this time I was perfect. I was much more upright than on this clip, but my darling husband didn't take the flip with us this time, so we have no video of it. I was very proud of myself, I managed to do the whole 10 minute session and didn't fall in the water even when the boat had to turn to go back. Cannot wait to go water skiing again!

My Dream Review - Hipster Jersey Dress by Isabella Oliver!

I am sure that we all have dreams, and one of mine has recently come true! Thanks to one of my mummy blogging friends I got a contact for the Isabella Oliver PR and I have kindly asked if she would like me to review something from the 365 collection and was anxiously waiting for her response. A few days later I got  her response, that she would be happy for me to review something and asked for my address. I was so excited, I didn't know what she would be sending over, but frankly, if you check out the website, you will just fall in love with all the products. When the parcel finally arrived it looked like this:

My heart was beating fast and Isabelle running around wasn't really helping. I was trying to explain to her, that this time it is something for mummy, not for her, as usually! At the end I just asked daddy to look after her as I didn't want anyone to spoil this precious moment! Then I slowly opened the box...

        and unwrapped the ribbon with a message from the PR and then just.... ripped the paper and found this gorgeous black hipster jersey dress by I - S - A - B - E - L - L -A   O - L - I - V - E - R !

I quickly got undressed and put the dress on. At first I thought the sleeves were too long and couldn't figure out what to do with them...so I went and had a proper look at the photo on the website and straight away I realised I had to roll them up. The problem solved, and it looked very stylish. I put my high heels on, and called daddy and Isabelle to say the verdict. Daddy's response was a loud whistle and Isabelle also seemed to like it, but didn't say anything as she was not happy that I had sent her upstairs to be with daddy when I was unwrapping the parcel. Anyway, this was just before going on holiday to Barbados, so I was planning to wear it there, but it was just too hot for it there, so I think daddy will have to take me out for some nice dinner so I could show it off here. I have never been  a big fan of very short dresses, but this just looks gorgeous with leggings and makes me feel like a yummy mummy! Now I just have to hope this is not the last time I am reviewing this fabulous designer.

You should also check out the maternity collection Isabella Oliver has, absolutely gorgeous and makes me want to be pregnant again!

Finally understanding what a "school run" really is!

It has been a few weeks since Isabelle has started her new pre-school, which means I drive her every morning to the school. The pre-school starts at 8.45 and the big school starts at 9am, which makes it a bit easier for the parents to find a parking spot and not get booked. The first week we all got a letter warning us about where we were allowed to park and that the traffic wardens will not be making any exceptions just because we were parents...

The first time I heard about "school run" was of course on twitter, always at about the same time in the morning and in the afternoon. At first I couldn't really imagine what it would be like, but after a few week of taking Isabelle to school, I finally know what it means and have to agree it is the best title for the procedure many parents and their kids have to do every morning and some also in the afternoon. As Isabelle stays only for 3 hours every morning, I don't have to experience the after school run, but can imagine what it's going to be like next year, once she will be staying for the whole day.

The school is also promoting "the walk to school" campaign, but unfortunately we live not that close, it would take definitely 20-25 minutes to get there and in this weather it's not an option for us. I will definitely try to walk to school more in Spring and summer, that's the plan! How about you, do you walk or drive your children to school?

        Diesel sunglasses reviewed!

Probably more than a month ago, just as I was excitedly twittering about my planned holidays in Barbados, I got an offer to review some sunglasses. I am one of the people who wear sunglasses all year round, not just in summer or when it's really sunny. I just love the feeling and the look when having sunglasses on. I was sent a few links to sunglasses for my review and at the end I went for these fabulous Diesel sunglasses

They were just perfect for my holiday. I used to have  a pair very similar to these, but one of the legs broke as Isabelle was playing with them, so I went for this look again. I have a few pairs of sunglasses for different occasions. The sunglasses I chose are perfect for the beach, as quite often when I sun bathe I read, and these sunglasses cover my eyes properly, there are no gaps, so reading is very easy with them. I also think they look very cool and also Isabelle has mentioned she didn't like them as I look like  a fly.... I still love wearing them. You should check out the whole range of hugely discounted designer sunglasses from the official website. So what do you think, do they suit me or not? Please, be nice ;)

        Hasbro Toys Tested and Reviewed!

When I was approached to test and review some Hasbro toys, we were anxiously waiting for the delivery as we had no idea what would be coming! We were just about to leave for  the airport when the delivery came, so we had no time to check out the products. Isabelle was disappointed, but at least she had something to look forward to when coming back from her half-term holidays. She spent 2 weeks with our family in the Czech Republic. When we picked her up at the airport on Monday night, I had the box ready and knew she would be very happy once she sees what is inside!

As she is a girl, we never bought her any boys' toys really, but when visiting our friends who have boys she always seems to admire cars, trucks and car parks. When she opened the box she saw two furreal friends, a dog and a rabbit, and the huge Rumbling Chuck. I knew she would be more interested in the truck and we helped her with unpacking it. The first thing to say is, it's great it comes with the batteries. I hate when we buy something and the batteries are not included. It usually happens when you don't have the right size batteries at home and your child just gets frustrated as they cannot play with the new toy. I think all electronic toys should have them included, that would save a few tears! Anyway, we actually spent a lot of time just exploring what the truck can do. When you load up his dump bed, he will tell you when it's enough and always chats back to you. You can push on his head, lift the dump bed and he will always tell you something. There are 50 phrases, so you will not get bored by hearing the same one again and again! There was also a storybook included and we had a lot of fun when loading him up, as he was unexpectedly trying to shake it all out! All in all, what a great toy not just for boys, but also for little girls. It is suitable from 3 years. For more information check out the official Hasbro website http://www.hasbro.com/shop/details.cfm?guid=1F9E6E0E-19B9-F369-100C-2BFC9EA56CC7&product_id=27359&src=endeca

The next morning I took Isabelle to her pre-school and there were a few tears. To cheer her up I promised she could play with her new FurReal friends after school. Again it was great the batteries were included, so straight away she could see them wiggling around. They are so soft and look very cute. To be honest,  we both preferred the puppy, she named him  "Snowy", but the rabbit is nice too. I have never heard of these, but when I checked out the website, I realised they had so many different animals and you can collect them. They are quite small, so Isabelle can just pop one of them in her pocket and go for a walk. They are suitable from 4 years. To check these little cuties, go to the official Hasbro website http://www.hasbro.com/en_GB/shop/browse.cfm?N=63+110&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial
